WHAT’S CAUSING MY DRY EYES?

Dry eyes is a common issue for up to 49 million Americans. This chronic condition can have a significant impact on your quality of life, causing a foreign body sensation in your eyes, pain, blurry vision, and dry or watery eyes. Untreated, it can even lead to further eye health complications. They occur when there’s a problem with the tears that coat your eyes with each blink. Tears lubricate and help keep eyes healthy and clean. People with dry eyes may not have enough tears or their tear quality may be poor.

One of the most common causes of dry eye, meibomian gland dysfunction, can occur when the glands that produce oil for your tears become clogged or damaged.

Factors like dry and windy weather, hormonal changes, medications, medical conditions, and genetics.
